Uber Fires 3700 employees over a 3-minute zoom call

Yes, We all know that the world is in the worst conditions in the aspects of health, development and economic slow down etc. Uber laid off 3,700 employees over a 3 minute zoom video call in which they laid off 3700 employees, which is almost of 14% of its workforce.

Corona outbreak effected several organisations which led them to make plan to lay off employees and they are working on it that how they and how much employees should terminate from their work. But Uber without any notifications it directly passes layoff information over a zoom video call almost within 3 minutes. And now Uber getting criticism about the way of layoff being as a Multi-National company.

According to a Daily Mail report, head of Uber’s customer service, Ruffin Chaveleau had to be the bearer of the bad news. She reportedly told employees, “We are eliminating 3,700 frontline customer support roles. Your role is impacted and today will be your last working day with Uber.”

In the statement from the company reports that their rides business is continuously in loss because rides has been slashed down into half, so that they do not need more customer supports employees and let them free from work.

The report further adds that while delivering the news, Chaveleau had a weak moment and broke down. She admitted that it is worse to be on the receiving end of the news and thanked the employees for their hard work that they put in the company.

In a regulatory filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Uber said due to lower trip volumes in its rides segment and the company’s current hiring freeze, it is reducing its customer support and recruiting teams by approximately 3,700 full-time employee roles.

“With the reality of our rides trips volumes being down significantly, our need for communication operations, as well as in-person support, is down substantially. And with our hiring freeze, there simply isn’t enough work for recruiters,” the company’s CEO Dara Khosrowshahi said in a letter to staff.

Khosrowshahi also reached an agreement with Uber’s Board of Directors, effective May 2, to waive his base salary for the remainder of the year ending December 31, 2020.

However, employees are extremely disgruntled and undoubtedly angry at the short notice and how uber fires employees via zoom to 3,500 was extremely impersonal. The employees have reportedly received severance pay.

Now people want to know uber fires employees in which country but Uber hasn’t officially stated about employees of which countries had laid off.
